Catholic Resources on Marital Sexuality and Natural Family Planning (NFP) /Fertility Awareness Based Methods (FABM)

Reliable and scientifically proven NFP/FABM methods (oldest to newest):

Billings Ovulation Method:

Drs. John and Evelyn Billings developed the first modern FAB method in 1953.  As well as the oldest, Billings is also probably the simplest and cheapest. Notice on the website above they have two online charting apps as well as other resources. This system uses mucus only. (This makes for simplicity, but can mean some confusion when interpreting only one sign in ambiguous situations, like postpartum return of fertility.)

Sympto-thermal Method:

Couple to Couple League International

CCL has been refining and teaching Sympto-thermal NFP since the 1970’s. They rely on two cross-checked signs: mucus observation (sympto) and basal body temperature (thermal), with an optional third sign (position of the cervix). They are a great organization with lots of resources, from books to online classes. You also call them or search the site for a CCL teaching couple near you to take classes from. Their charting app is called CycleProGo.

Creighton Model FertilityCare System:

Creighton is a very sophisticated mucus only system, based on Billings but with some innovations. Creighton has also developed an impressive system called NaProTechnology to help couples with infertility or other conditions such as PMS, ovarian cysts, cramps, and irregular or abnormal bleeding.

Marquette system of NFP:

Developed for use with the ClearBlue Easy Fertility Monitor, this mucus + fertility monitor system might be able to have the basal body temperature added (according to their website.) Their online charting portal is also on the website above.

Resources on Transgenderism

  • When Harry Became Sally: Responding to the Transgender Moment” by Ryan T. Anderson. This book is currently banned on Amazon, but you can still get it from other sellers. This book is the go-to summary of both the politics and the science. Totally fair and reliable. Also google anything by Ryan T. Anderson, President of the Ethics and Public Policy Center. He is a great general resource.

Organizations and Resources to Help Combat Gender Ideology in Schools:

Resources to Help Parents of Children With Gender Dysphoria:

  • The Transgender Trend: We are an organization of parents, professionals and academics based in the UK who are concerned about the current trend to diagnose children as transgender, including the unprecedented number of teenage girls suddenly self-identifying as ‘trans’ (Rapid Onset Gender Dysphoria or ROGD). We are also concerned about legislation which places transgender rights above the right to safety for girls and young women in public toilets and changing rooms along with fairness for girls in sport.
  • Parents of ROGD Kids
  • A community of people who question the medicalization of gender-atypical youth

Stories of Those Who Have Desisted or Detransitioned:

 Political Action Organizations/Coalitions:
