Serving Catholic Students at Hillsdale College
In response to this need, St. Anthony’s established The Grotto in 2012, an outreach, hospitality, and ministry center just off campus from Hillsdale College. The Grotto acts as a meeting place for students where they can meet friends, get away from the pressures of campus, pray, study, and find an active Catholic community that is relevant to this stage in their lives.
The greatest gift of The Grotto is its chapel, which reposes the Eucharist. Dozens of students come each day to spend time with our Lord, growing in relationship with Christ and love of the Church.
The Grotto also hosts multiple events each week to meet the wide and varying needs of the student population. From women’s discussion groups, to Mass and confession, rosary, bible studies, feast day parties, and speakers, The Grotto aims to bring every student – Catholic or otherwise – into deeper intimacy with the Lord and greater knowledge of the faith.
Through this ministry, students find an active and meaningful connection with their Catholic family in Hillsdale. By engaging at The Grotto, students find connections to St. Anthony’s and are now involved in every ministry at St. Anthony’s. Through this active parish involvement, they grow in knowledge of parish life, tithing of time and talent, and support the important work of St. Anthony’s in Hillsdale County.
The Grotto is always open if the doors are unlocked, whether it is official chapel hours or not! The Grotto hopes to make the Eucharist more accessible to anyone, so please stop by, pray in the chapel, and check out The Grotto’s collection of spiritual reading!
